An experiment: I've decided to make all my music pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp. You can now get the entire Kid Lightbulbs discography for free if you like! All I ask is for your email address – this also gets you reliable updates anytime I release something new. You can also optionally support the project with $ anytime you grab an album/single, or join the cult of lightbulbs (my subscription thingy). Why am I doing this? Because music is already devalued. I don't like it, but I've also enjoyed leaning into this for the joy & creativity's sake (openly inviting artists to cover/remix me, giving away sales to causes I care about). I wonder if all I'm doing by requiring $ is restricting access on the platform I want more people to connect with me on (Bandcamp, in this case). There is always the option to support me in multiple ways. 👇 I'm efficient with my music production, so I can afford to give away my music on the chance it reaches more people with a clear way to support me if they want to. Big update: I'm removing my first 2 albums from the streaming platforms. Not enough people who haven't also bought them on Bandcamp are listening. They're exclusively at Bandcamp and kidlightbulbs.com. Singles are still up and getting a handful of plays. This is one of a few experiments. If successful, they'll result in my divesting from Spotify and shifting my streaming presence to be teaser marketing rather than commoditization of my music. #indie #musician #kidlightbulbs #artrock #alternative #bandcamp #streaming

REMIXED CASTLE, in full, is now coming to streaming. The last remix in the cycle is the "belong" remix by @bad-years.bsky.social – a dear internet-friend & collaborator – who took "belong 2" and its sister track "we don't belong" (from LP1) and molded them into this spiritual meditative thing. 1/3 It builds from uncertainty to this cathartic peak, only for the machines to break down underneath its weight in the end.
